The Sonya Kates Forum would like to thank songwriter/music producer/performer, Mystik Seydina for taking the time to respond to our following Interview questions:


Q1: How long have you been a songwriter/performing artist/producer?

Q2: Who inspired you to sing and perform live music?

Q3: What was your very first experience as a music performer, and who was your audience?

Q4: You seem very comfortable with your music genre choice, how did you decide your music style?

Q5: Do you have a music hero? Who inspired you to sing?

Q6: Were you always confident from the beginning as a musical artist?

Q7: Were you surprised when people embraced your songs from around the world?

Q8a: Your song "Homeless (Help Them) is very powerful. Was this song inspired by a personal experience or does your lyrics have a more rooted groundation, bringing an awarness of the homeless problem around the world? 
Q8b: Tell us about your song "bou lene niou yapp" What does it mean?

Q9: Let's talk about Gainde Culture Studio, how did it come about?

Q10: Have you ever performed in the United States of America? If so, where?

Q11: What place do you enjoy performing live the most?

Mystik Seydina - In his own words:

1°  I became a songwriter in 1996 .And it was in 2005 that I I produced my first album humanity suffers
2°  I can say that I started singing at young age, but it was my mother who give me strength and courage to become a singer. She used to tell me you have a very beautiful voice why you can throw you into a musical career.
3° my first music experience it is with rap group with 3 friends the group called BLACK MASTER XIBAR , my audience was mboro Mboro the town where I grew up
4° you know I have not chosen reggae music , reggae music chose his missionaries because it is a divine music
5° Tiken Jah Fakoly, Lucky Dube, Alpha blondy, Burning Spear, and Jamaican  Group Culture have inspired me a lot
6° always confident and determined I never do half measures listening to my messages that proves that man is ready
7° I can tell you that I was not surprised when I discovered that my music traveled to all four corners of the world is the fruit of my work, I have always believed in me and I never try to abandon the music to do something else. I know that I have a very beautiful voice and my message is positive.
8a° Homeless song I respect very much by the power of his message, the riddim and the melody of the song. I have never been homeless but I lived a bit of a hard life. seeing the living conditions of homeless I wonder if in fact we live in a world of sharing and solidarity. the human being owes much see his behavior towards his neighbor
in all developed countries  the homeless live in suffertion, homeless need assistance are hunted, abandoned and in some countries even the municipality removes public bench frequented by the homeless. we can not continue to let them suffer must have reintegrate them into society
8b: Bou lene niou yapp it is a message against the president who take their people hostage and hijack their property. before being in power, they make promises and once elected they forget everything and never hesitate to fire on the people, defraud elections to stay in office
Title is in Wolof language spoken across Senegal / bou lene niou yapp means you must not make fun of our mouth
9° Gainde Culture is my label created in 2005 its aim is to produce new talent to Senegal in Africa and around the world
10° I have not  yet been in USA probaly  with the music I'll be there one day to deliver a concert to my fans who live down
11° the best place to sing to me that's where my message will be welcome to just cause a peaceful world
12° Cultural Vibration is the name of my facebook group that is intended to share any roots music primarily because the music comes from a culture and every man have his own culture
it is open to everyone but is careful to share a natural vibration
