Have you heard the ole' saying "We all agree to disagree?" Well, lately, that has been the issue with some of the appointed city councilmen and councilwomen who were sworn into office on 01 January 2012.

When it gets to the point where city councilmen and councilwomen exploit their differences with outburst of rage beyond the four walls of city hall, it's time to re-evaluate ones own thinking about these public servants who represent us, 'THE PEOPLE.' Can anything be done for this group of professionals to reach common reasoning? The Sonya Kates Forum wants to hear from you!

Today was a beautiful day and over twenty-five men gathered once again on the South Side of Evansville to canvass the area to deter future gang violence. These dedicated men are reclaiming troubled neighborhoods for God's glory. One woman was in attendance, as well.

On Saturday, October 8, 2011, a group of men throughout the community gathered together in prayer on the South Side of Evansville, Indiana. The mission was to canvass the area to deter future gang violence. Over several church leaders were involved in the march and witnessed to individuals throughout the community. It is a true saying that "Strength are in numbers," and hopefully, this group of dedicated men will continue to bond and reclaim the neighborhoods for God's glory.

David J. Nixon and Sonya Kates Nixon are the originator's of the Parent Ambassadors Inc. (PAIP), founded in 2003. Today, there are Parent Ambassadors programs in multi-states, colleges, and universities worldwide.

Who Are Parent Ambassadors?

PAIP are a group of volunteer parents who have a desire to be more active in their child's Title I school creating sound harmony between teachers and students, and showing strong support by forming a safe environment in public schools.

THE COMMUNITY AND RESISTANCE TOUR 2010 Follow-up

What does a photographer, blogger and journalist have in common? They fight for justice. Victoria Law, Jordan Flaherty and Jesse Muhammad, were the guest speakers at The Community and Resistance Tour, hosted at the Central Library on Saturday, September 25th, in Evansville, Indiana.

Granted, the people in attendance were small in number their voices of concern were loud.

The introduction of the first guest speaker was planned out extremely well. Victoria "Vikki" Law is a writer, photographer and mother based in New York. she is the author of Resistance Behind Bars: The Struggles of Incarcerated Women.

During the event, Vikki spoke about the struggles of incarcerated women in prison. For example, shackling women who are pregnant and close to their delivery date, appearing before a judge.

* Visiting Rights for Women with children

* Women who are raped by prison guards and become pregnant

* Foster Care, people caring for children of incarcerated mothers

* Commuting children to prison to visit their mothers

* Women conditions in prison

Should incarcerated women have the liberty to nurse their newborn in the jail cell? Should incarcerated women be denied their visiting rights to see their children? Do you think it is necessary for a pregnant woman to remain shackled in the presence of a judge?

These kinds of questions need answers. It is a nationwide problem being brought to the forefront of discussion, one state at a time.

During the open discussion forum, a question was directed to Ms. Law concerning the need to provide free feminine products for incarcerated women. For example, there was an incident in a county jail who denied giving an incarcerated woman feminine pads because she did not have money on her account (books). "Deal with it," yelled the prison guard as he watched her bleed through her uniform. This should be a top priority concerning incarcerated women in need during that moment in time.

What can you do to help solve the problem of incarcerated women in need of feminine products? Write letters to companies about their products and ask questions. (Stayfree Personal Products (Femeninas Envueltas), Kotex (Kimberly-Clark Corp.) and First Quality Hygienic). Granted, many of these companies that are mentioned cannot accept unsolicited ideas, suggestions or materials relating to the development, design, manufacture or marketing of their products, they are eager to answer your questions and receive your comments.

After the event adjourned for the evening, Ms. Law introduced a woman who's talent was making washable cloth feminine pads by hand, and sending them to incarcerated women in the state where she and her family reside. HOMESCHOOLING

In my view, I have always felt that my children where cheated out of their education in the public school system. For example, my children were all visual learners, and read at a slower pace, which was not satisfactory in a forty-five minute classroom setting. I attended plenty of school meetings who suggested that I medicate my children and put them in special education classes. I refused to base my children's learning on the judgement of others who just wanted a pay check, be left alone, and return to their cozy life style in an isolated non-diversity community at the end of the day.

Has your child ever encountered a mean teacher? There was an incident that happened between my oldest adult child and her teacher when she wanted to be excused to use the bathroom. The teacher suggested that she "Grab a cup and piss in it."

Another incident happened between my youngest adult child, and her Spanish teacher. My daughter was very fluent in speaking basic Spanish. Her teacher had made several errors in teaching the course. When my daughter corrected her, she was ignored, and given D's for the entire school semester. My daughter was a straight "A" student. She had been taught by a professional educator from Mexico.

I am proud to say that all three of my adult children graduated from high school, and are attending college. They survived learning through much labor of love. I instructed them to the best in their ability to learn, and to expand their thinking beyond the classroom.

Never give up on your children when others do. If I had to do it all over again, I would have chosen homeschooling.

NIXON PREDICTION:
In my view, I predict that in the near future, public schools will continue to vex worse and worse, due to organized youth gang domination, which will cause student enrollment to be extremely low. SSI budgets for Special Education will be cut, causing parents/guardians and grandparents to look at other alternative choices for their children. Seasoned public school teachers will market themselves as private tutors, and offer teaching online. Homeschooling will become the new wave of life to low-income families who cannot afford private schooling for their children. Graduates from college will market themselves outside of the public school systems, and open their own nonprofit organization to instruct children.

Rosalind "Mallia" Franklin (Queen of Funk), passed away on February 5, 2010. She was a beautiful vocalist from a music era when funk music energized the world back in the early 70s, 80s, 90s, and continues upward into the 21st Century.

I met Mallia Franklin when I lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the early 90s. She was such a great inspiration to me, and my music.

Mallia was an original member of the musical funk group, The Parlet, Brides of Funkenstein, and the Parliament Funkadelic: One Nation Under a Groove.
